Do not assume the vehicle owner’s annual policy automatically covers visiting relatives. The owner can ask their insurer about adding you, or you can investigate separate temporary cover if eligible.
Before driving, make sure you know exactly which policy covers you, the dates and times of cover, and any restrictions.
Never drive first and sort the insurance out afterwards. Cover needs to be in force before you take the vehicle onto the road.
